How to get best sleep at night - Health tips

Hi guys. Now I wanted to give you my number one tip for you getting better sleep at night. Now we know that sleep is absolutely fundamental to your health, to every aspect of your well-being. So can you guess what this tip is? Well, I'll tell you.

It's getting your iPhone out of your bedroom at night. Now I know for a lot of you it might be like, "No, don't tell me to get rid of my iPhone at night," and I completely get where you're coming from. You might be thinking, "Good, it's my alarm clock.

How else am I gonna wake up in the morning?" or "What if somebody needs to call me "in the middle of the night?" and I completely, completely get that.

I do a lot of corporate wellness workshops, and at each one of them, I ask people to put their hand up if they sleep with a phone next to them. I can tell you that it's between 95% and 100% at every single workshop. So let me give you a few reasons why this is really not working for you.

Now the first which you've probably heard about is the blue light that is emitted from the screen of the iPhone or whatever the device that you use, and that blue light really interferes with your body's production of melatonin, which is the sleep hormone, so it makes it far more difficult for you to go to sleep and your sleep is of poorer quality when you do fall asleep.

And then of course, if you are lying in bed, scrolling through your social media or doing your admin, checking emails, whatever it is that you're doing on your phone, then that is really not conducive to falling asleep because all that mental activity has got your brain wired and buzzing, when in fact, what you should be allowing it to do is to let go of the day and to begin to be calm in preparation for going to sleep.

And then maybe in the night, you, say, get up to go to the toilet or you can't sleep for whatever reason and you just kind of reach your phone and it's just so easy to click and swipe and see what's going in the news, and if anyone else has pressed Like on your latest Instagram or Facebook post or maybe someone sent you an email in the middle of the night. Of course your brain then just kind of revs up and thinks that it's time to get up and start its day, so it's even more difficult for you to fall back asleep.

So for all of those reasons and many more which I won't go into, it's really a disaster for you to go to sleep with your mobile phone right next to you. So if you can get it out of your bedroom, just charge it up elsewhere, that is gonna do you the most enormous favour in terms of your sleep and every aspect of your health. So if that's something that you think you can do, that's fantastic, and if you don't feel you can do it, if you're just too worried about being separated from it or if there's other obstacles, then do please leave me a comment.

I would love to know what it is that's worrying you about being separated from your phone at night, and thank you very much for reading my article.
